Tip for TAP! Steps for Schools: Jenny's India Trek 2014

Story

Hello Friends and Family,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

I will be embarking on a fantastic fundraising trip this coming November 2014, trekking for 5 days through the desert landscapes of western Gujarat, India. We will also be visiting the Tekra slums of Ahmedabad, where The Anganwadi Project’s long-term goal is to rebuild and renovate 66 pre-school to improve the lives and living conditions of children, families and communities in need. TAP has a grassroots approach to create simple, beautiful and cost effective designs in close collaboration with the local community.

TAP recruits and trains Australian design professionals who volunteer to oversee the design and construction of these schools, changing the current pre-schools housed in tiny, corrugated iron lean-tos, with poor light and little ventilation into safe and creative learning spaces. Out of school hours, TAP pre-schools become vibrant community hubs often doubling as meeting centres, gardens and even health clinics.

  • $50 buys and connects a new ceiling fan
  • $200 pays for a new water supply and tap giving students access to clean water
  • $500 funds the construction of a new roof
  • $1,500 erects the exterior walls
  • $3,500 lays the floor, and builds the walls and roof of an anganwadi

I have pledged to raise $3,500 for TAP and I need your help to reach my target. If you were able to support me in any way it would be greatly appreciated and will bring me closer to reaching my goal. Every little bit helps!

DRESS A TEAPOT - a gala of tea cosies of all kinds, held in July 2014 was a huge success due to the efforts of many. This event tipped me well over my fundrasing target!!!!

CITY to SURF - I'll be walking/running to Bondi on Sunday 10 August 2014 as part of the TAP team.

My fellow travellers are all holding great events in the coming months please support their efforts to help them reach their fundraising targets. Click on the HOME tab above and scroll down to see individuals and teams involved.

The Anganwadi Project Incorporated

Dear TAP Supporters,

The Anganwadi Project is looking for your support to continue building pre-schools in disadvantaged areas of India.

TAP designs and builds anganwadi (preschools) within the informal settlements of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and rural areas of Andhra Pradesh alongside our local partners and communities.
These small buildings make an enormous difference by giving young children the best possible start in life through a beautiful, well-designed and built, safe space to receive an education and good nutrition.
The Anganwadi Project relies solely on the generosity of donations from our supporters and sponsors. Please help us continue our work by making a donation to the project. All donations are tax deductible in Australia.

(All Australian dollar donations over $2 are tax deductable).

Thank you for your support!
